No Yeast Bread Rolls

These no yeast yogurt bread rolls are delicious, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Made with baking powder instead of yeast in just 30 minutes, including preparation time. Perfect last minute bread rolls, especially nowadays were yeast is so scares as a result of coronavirus!

This bread roll recipe is made with no yeast. It’s very easy to make, uses a handful of ingredients: plain flour, yogurt, egg, baking powder, sunflower oil and salt and takes only 30 minutes to make from start to finish.

So you can have fresh bread rolls anytime, for breakfast or as a side dish to meatballs in tomato sauce or baked eggplants in feta and tomato sauce. The list is endless!

What you’ll need to make bread rolls with baking powder

  • 300 g (2 ½ cups/ 10.6 oz) plain flour (all purpose flour) plus extra for dusting
  • 250 g (1 cup/ 8.8 oz) Greek yogurt
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1 ½ tablespoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sunflower oil

For the topping (Optional)

  • Oats, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds

How to make no yeast bread rolls

Begin by preheating the oven to 200°C (392 °F) with both up and low heat. Next, combine all the ingredients in a bowl and knead for about one minute (you don’t want to over knead the dough!).

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead for another minute.

 

Using the back of the knife cut the dough into 8 equal parts and roll each ball nicely.

Put the ball rolls on a baking sheet lined with a parchment paper. Lightly dip your fingers into the flour and flatten each bread rolls. Dip your fingers in water and rub the surface of the bread rolls with them.

If you like, sprinkle sesame seeds, or sunflower seeds or oats on some of the bread rolls before baking.

 

 

Bake for 20 minutes. Pour about 60 ml (¼ cup) water halfway at the bottom of the hot oven, close the oven and continue baking.

After 20 minutes remove from the oven let cool and enjoy!!

I saw this recipe and found it interesting with greek yogurt and without yeast. I looked at the ingredient list to make sure I had everything. I followed the instructions and its pretty easy and after the dough I cut them in 6 equal pieces and I sprinkled some sunflower seeds on top of the bread before I bake them for about 20 min afterwards I let them cool down for 45 min . My bread roll came out good , we ate it as a side dish very delicious. We will do again
