today I would like to show you how to make oven barbecued pork chops. Pork chops baked with a yummy homemade barbecue sauce is one of my family’s favorite recipes. I just love the sweet and spicy combination. Every time I make this dish, I always receive rave reviews from my family and friends.
It’s funny how even my 1-year old daughter licks her fingers while holding a chop by the bone with her hands. 🙂 Guys this recipe never disappoints me. It’s very easy to assemble, just like deep fried Camembert and spinach feta pinwheels and tastes sooooo good.
This from chefkoch’s site inspired recipe is very versatile and you can adjust it to your liking! If you don’t have pork chops for instance, you can use any meat of your choice. Sometimes I add potatoes or carrots and bake them together with chops.
This dish will go with any kind of sides. Some of my favorite combinations however comprises of a homemade bread, baked potatoes or basmati rice.

Oven barbecued pork chops recipe
Yield: 4 Servings
Prep Time: 15 min
Cook Time: 60 min
1 kg (2.2 lbs) bone-in pork chops
200 ml (about 1 cup) ketchup
100 ml (1/2 cup) water
2 tablespoons white wine vinegar/ balsamic vinegar
1 teaspoon soy sauce/ Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons honey
chili powder/ flakes, salt and pepper

Oven barbecued pork chops recipe step-by-step-instructions
First rinse the meat and pat it dry with paper towels. Afterwards, put the meat in a casserole dish and set aside. Next peel the potatoes, rinse them under cold water and cut them into halves. Scatter the potatoes in the casserole dish around the pork chops.
Preheat the oven to 200 °C (392 °F), with both top and bottom heat. Then peel and slice the onions.
In a saucepan heat sunflower oil and sauté the onions for 3-4 minutes.
Add sugar and keep stirring until sugar has dissolved.
Then add water, ketchup, soy sauce, vinegar, honey and chili flakes. Whisk to combine and bring to a boil. Taste and season with salt and pepper and remove from heat.
Pour the BBQ sauce over the pork chops and spread it over the chops and potatoes to coat.
Bake for 30 minutes.
Afterwards turn the chops and potatoes
and bake for another 30 minutes.
NOTE: You could also marinate the chops overnight if you have time and bake them the next day, because they taste even better.
