Ingredients used to make this recipe

  • 200 g (7.1 oz) sweetened condensed milk, chilled
  • 400 ml (13.5 fl.oz/ 1 2/3 cups) whipping cream, well chilled
  • 1 vanilla bean

Hint: If you don’t have access to vanilla bean, try to use 2- 3 teaspoons vanilla extract. This will not taste the same as when you’re using vanilla bean, but it’s a great alternative.

How to make vanilla ice cream with condensed milk

Using the tip of the knife split the vanilla bean lengthwise, scrape out the vanilla seeds and mix them with condensed milk.

In a jar whip the very well chilled whipping cream until light and fluffy.

Add whipped cream to a bowl with condensed milk and vanilla mixture and mix gently, until you have a homogeneous mixture.

Put the cream in an empty plastic container, smooth with a spoon or spatula and cover. If you don’t have a plastic container (which makes it easier to remove the ice cream), you can also use a bread tin lined with a cling film. Put in the freezer for at least 7 hours.

Remove from the freezer and let sit for 10 minutes before serving.
