Potatoes are a staple at our house. Like seriously my husband, our kids and I consume nearly 10 kg (22 lbs) potatoes per month. My mum in law is always surprised whenever I call her to get for us potatoes from the local farm where we buy local produce from eggs, meat to vegetables. The good thing about potatoes is that there are so many ways to enjoy them, such that you’ll never get tired of them.

This skillet fried halved potato recipe is super easy to make with minimal preparation time and tastes so good. Made with just halved potatoes and margarine and seasoned with salt and pepper in less than 40 minutes from start to finish.

What you’ll need to make halved fried potatoes

  • 12 medium potatoes
  • 4 tablespoons margarine (feel free to use sunflower oil instead of margarine)
  • salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

How to make skillet fried potatoes

Peel and wash the potatoes and cut them into halves.

Heat half of margarine in the skillet over medium heat. Once the margarine has melted fill the skillet with potatoes with the cut side facing down. Set aside the remaining potatoes.

Let cook for 10 minutes. Turn the potatoes once again and let cook for another 10 minutes.
