Ingredients

For the batter

  • 180 g (1 1/2 cups) flour
  • a pinch of salt
  • 2 medium eggs Germany, large US  room temperature
  • 3,5 tablespoons sugar
  • 150 ml (2/3 cup) milk room temperature
  • 5 medium apples
  • butter to fry the apple rings. You can also use sunflower oil

For dusting

  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  • In a bowl combine flour, eggs, sugar, a pinch of salt and milk and whisk to a smooth cream. Next peel the apples, cut into rings and remove the core. Then mix cinnamon and sugar together. If you have an empty seasoning bottle, just fill it with your cinnamon sugar.
  •  Heat butter or sunflower oil in a skillet at medium low heat. Using a spoon, dip the apple rings in the batter and fry them on both sides, until light golden brown. Remove from the skillet and place the fried apple rings on a plate and sprinkle them with cinnamon sugar immediately. Repeat the process until you have used up the apple rings and batter.

Notes

  1. If you would like your battered apple rings to be more fluffy, just separate the eggs. In a separate bowl combine egg yolks, flour, milk, sugar and salt and whisk until smooth and stir in beaten egg whites.
  2. If you have batter left, just peel another apple or use bananas if you have some home.
