Equipment

  • Hand mixer with whisk
  • Bowl
  • Cutting board
  • Plastic container with cover
  • Spatula or spoon
  • Jar

Ingredients

  • 200 g (7.1 oz) sweetened condensed milk chilled
  • 400 ml (13.5 fl.oz/ 1 ⅔ cups) whipping cream well chilled
  • 1 vanilla bean

Instructions

  • Using the tip of the knife split the vanilla bean lengthwise, scrape out the vanilla seeds and mix them with condensed milk.
  • In a jar whip the very well chilled whipping cream until light and fluffy. Add whipped cream to a bowl with condensed milk and vanilla mixture and mix gently, until you have a homogeneous mixture.
  • Put the cream in an empty plastic container, Smooth with a spoon or spatula and cover. Put in the freezer for at least 7 hours. Remove from the freezer and let sit for 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy just like that, with fruits of your choice or with chocolate tart.

Notes

  • If you don't have a plastic container (which makes it easier to remove the ice cream), you can also use a bread tin lined with a cling film.
  • Hint: If you don’t have access to vanilla bean, try to use 2- 3 teaspoons vanilla extract. This will not taste the same as when you’re using vanilla bean, but it’s a great alternative.
