Herb Salt

This homemade herb salt made with rosemary, basil, parsley, sage, thyme, lovage, oregano and sea salt is so good, cheap, super easy and quick to make and you know what's inside - no hidden ingredients. Makes a perfect DIY gifts from your kitchen.

Equipment

  • Food processor
  • glass or jar with a tight fitting lid

Ingredients

  • 100 g (3.5 oz) fine sea salt
  • 500 g (1.1 lbs) fresh herbs

Instructions

  • Begin by washing fresh herbs. Then shake off excess water. Put the washed fresh herbs on a baking sheet lined with baking paper and let dry overnight. Next remove the stems and chop the leaves in food processor, then mix with salt. Transfer the salt mixture on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or something similar and let dry overnight or until the salt is completely dry. Keep stirring in between. Pack in glasses and enjoy.

Notes

  • Feel free to reduce or increase the herbs according to your taste.
  • If where you're it's cold, or you're to impatient to let the salt dry overnight, feel free to use the oven to dry the salt, with the door slightly open.Simply put the baking sheet or casserole dish with salt in the oven preheated to 50 °C (122 °F) . Keep turning the salt until its completely dry, this takes around an hour.
