German alcohol – free Christmas punch (Kinderpunsch)

German alcohol – free Christmas punch, otherwise known as Kinderpunsch is a kid-friendly version of Glühwein (German hot mulled wine). It’s delicious, healthy and easy to follow.

Made with fruit tea, orange juice, fresh oranges, cherry – apple juice and spices (star anise, cloves and cinnamon). Makes a perfect last minute gift from the kitchen.

During Christmas my father in law is always responsible for making Glühwein. While my mum in law for the non-alcoholic version of Glühwein, well known as Kinderpunsch.

The whole house is always filled with the dreamy smell of cinnamon, star anise, cloves and oranges, which invites you to take a sip of this hot, slightly sweet and nutritious alcohol- free punch.

And this is how I’ve learned how to make hot Christmas punch. I’ve recently made it in batches and gave it out as holiday gifts. Everyone loved it!!

My mum in law even complained that she will not share with me her recipes anymore, because I made them better than her. I told her to be proud of herself, because she is such a great teacher.

This Kinderpunsch is loved by both kids and grown-ups and tastes way better than store bought fruit punch. You can use this recipe as a basic recipe and adjust the spices based on your taste. Substitute cherry apple juice with black currant juice or red grape juice.
